About The Company
At AB Turf Research, we combine research and scientific expertise with hands-on industry experience in the turfgrass and agricultural sectors. With over a decade of experience as a golf course superintendent, I bring a practical understanding of turfgrass systems, chemical application, and land management to every project. This field-based knowledge is reinforced by academic credentials, including a Ph.D. in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science from Auburn University and multiple degrees from Virginia Tech in Turfgrass Management.
Who I Am
Welcome to AB Turf Research! My name is Adam Boyd, Ph.D. and I am the owner of the company. I'm a native Virginian, but my academic career brought me to Auburn about 10 years ago now. I received my doctorate in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science in 2020 from Auburn University, and have continued working locally in the research industry since my graduation. My wife and I have two young daughters and have grown to love the area and our Auburn family.

What We Do
My research centers on chemical application and its effects on both managed turfgrass systems and key row crops such as peanuts, cotton, soybean, and corn. My specialties lie in the evaluation of herbicides, fungicides, nematicides, and other pesticides. I strive to provide my clients with unbiased, accurate data, while maintaining open communication throughout each trial or project. I have found that efficient communication and accurate data collection allows for my clients to make better, data-informed decisions for each of their products.
I work with clients in agriculture, golf and sports turf, homeowners, commercial LCOs, ALDOT, and beyond—offering services that include field trials, program evaluation, and consulting. By bridging scientific rigor with real-world application, I help organizations achieve measurable improvements in performance, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
